“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” – Acts 9:6
Some yeses are quiet and gradual. Others come in a flash of light that forever changes the course of a life.
Paul’s encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus was one of the most powerful and transformative moments recorded in Scripture. Once a fierce persecutor of Christians, Paul’s entire identity was upended in a single divine encounter. His story reminds us of this truth: No one is beyond the reach of God’s transforming grace.
From Opposition to Obedience
In Acts 9, Saul (later called Paul) is on a mission to arrest followers of Jesus. He is confident, zealous, and dangerous—until a blinding light stops him in his tracks. He falls to the ground and hears a voice:
“Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
Jesus doesn’t wait for Saul to clean up his act. He meets him as he is and calls him into something new. That moment, marked by confrontation and mercy, becomes the beginning of Paul’s transformation. And Saul’s response?
“What shall I do, Lord?” (Acts 22:10)
It’s the question of a surrendered heart, and it’s where transformation begins.
The Power of Yes
Saying yes to Jesus doesn’t just alter our plans—it changes who we are.
Paul didn’t just change professions. He became a new person with a new mission. His yes meant stepping into a life of proclaiming the very gospel he once tried to destroy. That kind of change doesn’t come from human effort—it comes from the Spirit of God at work in a surrendered life.
Each of us has a version of the Damascus road—a moment, or a series of moments, when Jesus calls us into deeper transformation. The question is: Will we say yes?

Closing Thought
Paul’s story is not just dramatic—it’s deeply encouraging. If God could transform a man like Saul, He can transform anyone. That includes you. That includes the parts of your heart that feel stuck, broken, or resistant. All He asks is your yes.
So whatever road you’re on—listen. The same Jesus who called Paul is calling you too.
