I’m trying to wait it out, but a lot of the Wild Flower seed I purchased this year has been a dud. In a lot of places, I have nothing growing, and in other places, it looks like I planted beds of ragweed. All the seeds came from one of 3 companies that I have used before and have never had this problem. And it crosses varieties.
I am now looking at options to reseed. I think we are still early enough that I can get some nice blooms yet.
My ride-or-die, such as the Easter Lilly, has stuck with me. They are opening up this week. These perennial bulbs are famous for the beautiful fragrance of its large, trumpet-shaped flowers. But can I tell you a secret, I have never liked lilies, especially the smell. They are my least favorite flower…..
I do not think I have said that out loud before. My mama loved them, and I am sure she is rolling over in her grave right now.
Yet they do hold a place in my memories. Every Easter mama would load the chapel with them, making a garden for the church family to take Easter pictures. Then, on Easter Sunday, she would pin a corsage of lillies to my Easter dress. Did I mention she loved them? And so I have 6 Lillies sprinkled in my front bed to remember Mama.
