As we prepare for Part two of Bible-ology I wanted to take a moment and encourage you on this journey. It is hard in the culture that we live in to ignore the world and hone in on the Word of God. We have so many people wanting to alter and cancel us. Lets not take for granted God’s word because we really need to be available for God to transform us. As you step out today keep Hebrews 4:12
12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Heb 4:12
The word that stands out to me here is active which means “effective, powerful, producing, or capable of producing an intended result. The Bible is alive, it lights your path. It is a sword that protects.
We can trust that the Spirit is continually working in and through His words. God did not write a static work but is continually at work through the Holy Spirit. The Word is HIs story. It speaks to His power to deliver, provide, and keep His promises.
Scripture should be approached with expectation, an expectation that God is going to speak. And when we come with an open heart ready to receive His words God speaks afresh to us. He speaks to our present attitude, season and stage of life. The word is not about us but for us.
Remember in Bible-ology part one we read what Paul told Timothy, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16–17, NLT).
So as you approach reading God’s word, remember it energizes the soul by teaching, correcting, and equipping.
