Welcome back to Rooted Simply. Today I am sharing my journaling prompt for August. I got out of the habit of sharing these prompts but after a couple of drama-filled months, I felt it would be helpful to spend some time journaling again. Moving forward each month (August through December) I will share the word prompt and a few themed questions.
I will also include three Bible translations of the coordinating scripture. For August our word prompt is Self-Awareness and the scripture is 1 Timothy 4:16.
The Voice
“Take care of yourself, concentrate on your teaching, and stick with these things. If you do, then you will be effective in bringing salvation to yourself and all who hear you.”
International Standard Version
”Pay close attention to your life and your teaching. Persevere in these things, because if you do so, you will save both yourself and those who listen to you.”
New International Version
“Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”
Take care, pay close attention, and watch your life…
When I read take care I think of the word gentle, while pay close attention makes me think of being focused. Watch your life makes me think about seeing the big picture.
Self-awareness is experiencing your own personality and individuality. It is also linked to your experiences and how you process them, specifically how you understand your own character, feelings, motives, and desires. As Christians, self-awareness also includes our Spiritual journey and how we identify in Christ.
Questions:
- What are your strengths?
- What are your weaknesses?
- Were do you want to grow?
- What are some threats to achieving this growth?
- How do you identify in Christ?
Now I challenge you to grab your favorite pen, (Mine right now are the Paper Mate Ink Joy gels) a journal, or notebook, and let’s start journaling.
Simply,
Jess
