Hi!
Today was a day of travel for me. I am now sitting in my hotel room writing this as I finish listening to a podcast from Candace Cameron Bure on “What to Do in the Waiting”. I had planned to share the Prayers from Exodus but felt led to share this instead. Be on the lookout for All the Prayers: Exodus next week.
I think it is interesting how when we ask for patience God does not always provide it but rather provides an opportunity to put it into practice. September ended a season of ministry for us and now I find myself in Grand Rapids to attend a Multiplication Boot Camp to learn more about church planting.
Tonight I was reading over Chapter 1 in Heart’s Cry: Principles of Prayer and it starts out with a look at Psalm 37:4.
I do not want to focus on the second half of this passage. I want to focus before the “and”. This passage uses the word DELIGHT which is a a happy or pleasure word. You see even when my heart is broken, the Lord is still a delight to me. The book says “Someone who delights you draws you. Someone who delights you is irresistible.” It is in this delight that I can heal.
I like listening to Candice and in this episode, Candice and her season four guest co-host Bianca Juarez Olthoff share 4 things to do when you are in a season of waiting. They are:
Get Out – In Nature – The Presence of God
Work Out – IT can be calming and it grounds us
Go Out – alone to be with God
Sing Out – I am going to put a PRAISE on it!
These are 4 things allow you to be drawn closer to God, a place where you can find delight in Him. Ultimately the possibilities of where the Lord will direct us are endless. Still, in this season, He is using this downtime to heal a very broken heart by providing space to delight in him and an opportunity to put patience into practice.
What do you do when you are “in the waiting” that draws you closer to Him? I recommend that you watch the podcast. They dig deeper into this and provide scientific facts to back each.
“Lord today may we use our time in the waiting to draw closer to you. Help me with patience Lord as I struggle with the unknown. Lord, we thank you for your guidance and how you protect us. May we delight in you today. ~ Amen.
