Mark 1:35–37
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Simon and his companions went to look for him, and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
Starting something new or facing a significant task can be exciting but also overwhelming. Whether it’s a new job, a big project, or an important decision, we often feel the pressure to perform well and make the right choices. In moments like these, we can look to Jesus for guidance. In Mark 1:35–37, we see how Jesus prepared for His work by seeking time alone with God.
Jesus’ Example of Seeking Solitude
As Jesus began His public ministry of preaching and healing, He took time to be alone with God. Listen to God: Spend some time in silence, listening for God’s voice. He might speak to you through thoughts, feelings, or a sense of peace.
Rest in God’s Presence: Allow yourself to relax and rest in God’s love. Trust that He is with you and will help you with the tasks ahead.
