Observation
The passage paints a vivid picture of a corrupt individual, not just in actions but at the heart level. Through subtle signals and speech, the wicked sow discord, manipulating situations for selfish gain. However, divine justice is swift and certain—ruin comes suddenly and without remedy.
Reflection
The seriousness of deception and discord is underscored in this warning. God is not only concerned with what we do but why we do it. Motives matter. This section reminds us to examine our hearts for manipulation, bitterness, or a tendency to stir up conflict—and to pursue integrity instead.
In Proverbs 6:12-15 The writer mentions the eyes … feet … fingers … hearts: The different parts of a person’s body and how they relate to a person’s overall character, it is not just an occasional foolish act but a character and overall ‘way of life’.
Here in these verses we find a vivid description of one who uses their mouth, their eyes, their feet and their fingers in devious ways. We know this: as we communicate with others we use all these body parts to converse. The heart speaks through our body — we express ourselves through our physical body.
If we stir up conflict we will suffer the consequences. (See Proverbs 6:15 and Galatians 6:7-8)
