Sin Is Not a Mistake\u2014It Is Rebellion<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ephesians 2:1\u20133 describes humanity as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n dead in sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n following the world<\/p>\n\n\n\n enslaved to desires<\/p>\n\n\n\n under judgment<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sin is not simply \u201cmessing up.\u201d It is rejecting God\u2019s authority and choosing our own way.<\/p>\n\n\n 2. Sin Separates Us From God<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Romans 3:23 says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAll have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sin creates a relational, moral, and spiritual separation between humanity and God. We are not \u201cbasically good people who occasionally do bad things.\u201d We are spiritually dead people who need resurrection.<\/p>\n\n\n 3. Sin Brings Judgment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Romans 6:23 says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe wages of sin is death.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sin earns something. It produces something. It demands something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Death is not just physical\u2014it is spiritual and eternal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Sin Is Universal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Every person\u2014religious or irreligious, moral or immoral\u2014stands guilty before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is why salvation is not optional. It is essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If sin separates us from God, how can we be reconciled?<\/p>\n\n\n\n The answer is the atonement\u2014the work Jesus accomplished on the cross to restore us to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Atonement Means \u201cTo Make Right\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n In Scripture, atonement involves:<\/p>\n\n\n\n sacrifice<\/p>\n\n\n\n substitution<\/p>\n\n\n\n cleansing<\/p>\n\n\n\n reconciliation<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Old Testament sacrificial system pointed forward to a greater sacrifice\u2014Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n 2. Jesus Is the Perfect Substitute<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Romans 3:25 says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGod presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jesus is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n fully God \u2014 able to bear infinite judgment<\/p>\n\n\n\n fully human \u2014 able to represent humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n sinless \u2014 able to be a perfect sacrifice<\/p>\n\n\n\n He took our place. He bore our punishment. He paid our debt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. The Cross Satisfies God\u2019s Justice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n God is holy and just. He cannot ignore sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But God is also loving and merciful. He desires to save sinners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The cross is where justice and mercy meet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the cross:<\/p>\n\n\n\n God\u2019s justice is upheld<\/p>\n\n\n\n God\u2019s wrath is satisfied<\/p>\n\n\n\n God\u2019s love is revealed<\/p>\n\n\n\n God\u2019s mercy is extended<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. The Resurrection Confirms the Atonement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The cross is the payment. The resurrection is the receipt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n If Jesus had stayed dead, His sacrifice would be meaningless. But He rose\u2014proving His victory over sin and death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Every religion in the world teaches some version of salvation by works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n do enough good, follow the rules, obey the rituals, earn God\u2019s approval. Christianity stands alone in declaring: You cannot save yourself. God must save you.<\/p>\n\n\n 1. Works Cannot Save Us<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Ephesians 2:8\u20139 says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt is by grace you have been saved\u2026 not by works.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why not works?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n our works are tainted by sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n our righteousness is insufficient<\/p>\n\n\n\n our efforts cannot erase guilt<\/p>\n\n\n\n our morality cannot change our nature<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trying to earn salvation is like trying to climb to the moon with a ladder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Grace Means \u201cUnmerited Favor\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace is not:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n God helping those who help themselves<\/p>\n\n\n\n God rewarding good behavior<\/p>\n\n\n\n God overlooking sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace is:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n God giving us what we do not deserve<\/p>\n\n\n\n God rescuing us when we cannot rescue ourselves<\/p>\n\n\n\n God loving us while we were still sinners<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace is not earned. Grace is received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Grace Produces Humility<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n If salvation is by grace:<\/p>\n\n\n\n we cannot boast<\/p>\n\n\n\n we cannot compare<\/p>\n\n\n\n we cannot judge<\/p>\n\n\n\n we cannot take credit<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace levels the playing field. Every Christian is a sinner saved by mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Grace Produces Transformation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace does not excuse sin. Grace empowers holiness.<\/p>\n\n\n Ephesians 2:10 says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are God\u2019s workmanship\u2026 created in Christ Jesus to do good works.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Works do not save us. But salvation produces works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace changes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n our desires<\/p>\n\n\n\n our identity<\/p>\n\n\n\n our purpose<\/p>\n\n\n\n our destiny<\/p>\n\n\n\n Romans 3:21\u201326 is one of the clearest explanations of the gospel in Scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It teaches us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. God Initiates Salvation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBut now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known\u2026\u201dRomans 3:21<\/p>\n\n\n\n We do not climb up to God. God comes down to us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. God Provides the Righteousness We Lack<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ\u2026\u201dRomans 3:22<\/p>\n\n\n\n We do not earn righteousness. We receive it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. God Justifies the Guilty<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJustified freely by His grace\u2026\u201dRomans 3:24<\/p>\n\n\n\n Justification means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n declared righteous<\/p>\n\n\n\n forgiven<\/p>\n\n\n\n accepted<\/p>\n\n\n\n restored<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. God Demonstrates His Justice and Love<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe did this to demonstrate His righteousness\u2026\u201dRomans 3:25-26<\/p>\n\n\n\n The cross shows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n God takes sin seriously<\/p>\n\n\n\n God takes love seriously<\/p>\n\n\n\n God takes salvation seriously<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. God Saves Through Faith Alone<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHe justifies those who have faith in Jesus.\u201dRomans 3:26<\/p>\n\n\n\n Faith is not:<\/p>\n\n\n\n intellectual agreement<\/p>\n\n\n\n emotional feeling<\/p>\n\n\n\n religious activity<\/p>\n\n\n\n Faith is trusting Jesus alone for salvation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is a clear, simple way to explain the gospel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Creation<\/strong> \u2014 You were made for relationship with God. You are not an accident. You were created with purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Fall<\/strong> \u2014 Sin separates you from God. Sin is rebellion, not a mistake. It breaks relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Redemption<\/strong> \u2014 Jesus died and rose to save you. He took your place. He paid your debt. He conquered death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Restoration<\/strong> \u2014 You must respond with repentance and faith. Salvation is a gift. You receive it by trusting Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is the gospel. This is the message that saves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your testimony is one of the most powerful tools you have for sharing the gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n People can argue with your theology. They cannot argue with your story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here is a simple, biblical framework for sharing your testimony clearly and effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Before Christ \u2014 Who were you?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Share:<\/p>\n\n\n\n your struggles<\/p>\n\n\n\n your emptiness<\/p>\n\n\n\n your sin<\/p>\n\n\n\n your questions<\/p>\n\n\n\n your brokenness<\/p>\n\n\n\n Be honest. Be specific. Be human.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. How You Met Christ \u2014 What changed?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Share:<\/p>\n\n\n\n how you heard the gospel<\/p>\n\n\n\n what convicted you<\/p>\n\n\n\n what opened your eyes<\/p>\n\n\n\n how you responded<\/p>\n\n\n\n Focus on Jesus\u2014not on your effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. After Christ \u2014 What difference has Jesus made?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Share:<\/p>\n\n\n\n how He changed your desires<\/p>\n\n\n\n how He healed your wounds<\/p>\n\n\n\n how He gave you purpose<\/p>\n\n\n\n how He is still transforming you<\/p>\n\n\n\n Your testimony is not about perfection. It is about transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Keep it simple, short, and centered on Jesus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Avoid:<\/p>\n\n\n\n long details<\/p>\n\n\n\n theological jargon<\/p>\n\n\n\n self-focus<\/p>\n\n\n\n Aim for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n clarity<\/p>\n\n\n\n humility<\/p>\n\n\n\n authenticity<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. Practice your testimony<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Write it out. Refine it. Share it with a friend. Be ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When sharing the gospel, posture matters as much as content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1. Be gentle – People are not projects. They are image-bearers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 2. Be clear – Avoid vague language. Explain the gospel simply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 3. Be confident – The gospel is the power of God. You are not responsible for results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 4. Be relational – People often need to belong before they believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 5. Be patient – Conversion is the Spirit\u2019s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 6. Be prayerful – Pray before, during, and after conversations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gospel is not: good advice, good morals, good inspiration<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gospel is good news\u2014a declaration of what God has done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gospel says:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You are more sinful than you realize.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You are more loved than you can imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You cannot save yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Jesus has done everything necessary to save you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Salvation is a gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Grace is available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hope is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Eternity is secure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is why the gospel is the greatest message in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why the cross?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because sin is serious. Because justice is real. Because holiness matters. Because God is righteous. Because we cannot save ourselves. Because love required sacrifice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Why grace?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Because we are helpless. Because we are broken. Because we are guilty. Because we are dead in sin. Because salvation must be a gift. Because God delights in mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The gospel is not about what you do for God. It is about what God has done for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You are saved by grace. You are kept by grace. You are transformed by grace. You are empowered by grace. You are destined for glory by grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is salvation. This is the gospel. This is why Jesus came. This is why we worship.
