This is not a mandate for arrogance or intellectual combativeness. Yet it also carries significant weaknesses: it is often self-contradictory, struggles to consistently condemn evil, cannot coherently define identity, and ultimately fails to offer lasting hope. Yet it also carries significant weaknesses: it contradicts itself, cannot adequately explain evil or justice, and cannot account for the historical and theological uniqueness of Jesus.
